Launch Public Health
With the mission of helping high school and undergraduate students, I organized and moderated a Healthcare Inequalities Conference. This conference helped them to learn about the social determinants of health and how to launch public health initiatives in their communities addressing these issues. Over fifty-five high school and undergraduate students from institutions across the world attended this 3-day virtual conference. Students from schools such as Columbia, Dartmouth, UCLA, Smith College, Emory, Rutgers, TCNJ, Rider, and even Sweden participated. Three Rutgers University professors gave guest lectures about healthcare disparities and participants also heard from five distinguished healthcare professionals about their careers. In the ideathon, which was the second day of the conference, participants collaborated in groups to design public health interventions targeting a prominent healthcare issue under racial, gender, and sexual-orientation based inequalities. Over ten groups submitted proposals in the ideathon.
Harnessing the enthusiasm of these teams to make a change, I created an incubator program, Launch Public Health, to better support them in bringing their interventions to communities that need them the most. Participants were able to learn graduate-level skills in designing and implementing a public health intervention through a 5-week workshop. By listening to distinguished experts in the public health sector, working with mentors, and completing assignments, they ultimately had the resources necessary to begin launching their projects. I partnered with the New Jersey Public Health Association, New Jersey Health Initiatives, and the North Jersey Health Collaborative to launch this program. NJHI funded this initiative.

Our Hearts United
In 2019, I founded a nonprofit dedicated to working with underprivileged mothers and children. I lead the organization as president along with an eight-person board. We have over twenty-five volunteers for which we host weekly meetings. We raised over $1200 for World Central Kitchen at the start of COVID-19 to feed front-line workers. This money was fundraised through virtual workout, zumba, dance, and art classes that we hosted. We are currently working on our Diaper Bag Initiative. So far, we've raised over $500 and donated over 50 diaper bags of baby supplies to underprivileged mothers in rural India for their newborns. We hope to continue this project not just in India, but in local communities too.
Women in STEM Mentor Program
I launched a district-wide initiative, along with the other girls in my STEM cohort, to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields. We organized a mentor program for younger girls to foster a passion in the field of STEM. We host meetings and presentations with the underclasswomen to teach them about engineering, computer science, and medicine to stimulate interest in these male-dominated professions. We especially hope to see more girls pursuing STEM-related classes. We hope to show them not to be afraid to take part in these courses but instead follow their curiosities freely and comfortably.
National Honors Societies
National Honor Society
As a member of the National Honor Society, I tutor elementary to middle-school-aged kids in the community.
National English Honor Society
As a member of the National English Honor Society, I volunteer in the community with the goal of improving literacy. I visited the elementary schools during Read Across America to read to pre-school to second-grade aged children. I also took part in other literature-related activities, such as helping teachers organize their classroom libraries, helping run One Book Read (where the whole school read one book and we organized a meeting to discuss it after school), and helping organize a reading carnival in the local library for the younger kids.
Rho Kappa
As a member of the National History Honor Society, I have taken part in numerous projects, fundraisers, and community-based events. I helped organize a project showcasing the town’s history to teach the local children about our community. I also helped organize the school-wide mock election for the 2020 presidential election., as well as the annual Free Rice competition to raise rice to feed families in need.
Science Honor Society
I've volunteered and helped organize numerous SNHS events, including the annual booth at the school’s Haunted High School and the annual Astronomy night.
Monroe Township Public Library Tutoring
In the Spring of 2018, I tutored local elementary age kids at the library bi-weekly. We worked on core subjects such as math, science, language arts, and history. This experience opened my eyes to how much I enjoy teaching others and this is something I hope to pursue further.
Key Club
I've volunteered in numerous community events including Octoberfest, the town’s Halloween Parade, and charity auctions.
